One of the leading failure modes in electric submersible pumps (ESPs) is thermal damage to the motor lead extension (MLE). Traditionally, the MLE is banded directly to the pump housing. Under gas lock conditions, tungsten carbide bearings within the pump generate extreme heat, transferring it to the housing and ultimately to the MLE. The direct thermal exposure compromises cable insulation integrity and can shorten ESP run life.

Republic Oil Tools has developed the Snap-On MLE Insulator, a patent pending solution manufactured from high-performance PEEK. The insulator is designed to provide a thermal and mechanical barrier between the MLE and pump housing, significantly reducing the risk of cable degradation.
